Mr Kanji ("we", "our", "us") provides a Japanese learning app. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, when it may be shared, and your choices.

1. Data We Collect

Account and identity data

  • Email address (from email/password sign-in or Google Sign-In)
  • Profile name data, such as first name, last name, or display name
  • Firebase user ID (UID)

Learning and app data

  • Study progress, quiz progress, quiz history, and JLPT learning activity
  • SRS stages, due times, streaks, and related progress metrics
  • App settings and preferences, such as language, theme, and notification settings
  • User-created folders, notes, or related study content
  • User-submitted issue reports
  • Recently viewed content and other local app data stored on your device

Advertising-related data

  • Advertising identifiers and related device or app signals used by Google AdMob and its partners to deliver, personalize where permitted, and measure ads
  • On iOS, ad-related tracking is subject to system permission choices such as App Tracking Transparency

Notification-related data

  • Notification preference and reminder schedule settings
  • Local notification scheduling metadata

2. How We Use Data

We use your data to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Authenticate sign-in, including Google Sign-In
  • Save and sync your learning progress across devices
  • Provide quizzes, study features, reminders, and related app functionality
  • Display and measure ads

3. Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data.

We may share data with service providers that process data on our behalf or provide app functionality, including:

  • Google Firebase Authentication for account sign-in and authentication
  • Google Cloud Firestore for profile, settings, and learning-data storage and sync
  • Google Sign-In for sign-in services
  • Google AdMob for ad delivery, advertising measurement, and related ad partner processing

These providers may process data in accordance with their own terms and privacy policies.

4. Data Retention

We keep account and learning data while your account is active or as needed to provide services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

If you request account deletion, we delete your account and associated app data from our backend systems, subject to limited retention that may be required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or short-term backup and recovery processes.

Some local cached data may remain on your device until you clear the app data or uninstall the app.

5. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect data in transit and at rest where applicable. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

6. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your data.

7. Account Deletion

You can request account deletion in either of the following ways:

When deletion is completed, your account and associated app data are deleted from our backend systems, subject to limited retention described in this policy.
